Bissell Goes Green

I ordered a Steam Shot directly from Bissell a couple weeks ago and have been pretty happy with this little cleaning machine. Three days after receiving it, however, I received a second machine. No extra charge to my card and the paperwork looks identical. Some people might take advantage of this and keep the extra machine, even sell it for a profit. I don't like that idea and figure it's best to stay honest and let them know about the mistake. My mom is interested in this machine for herself so she offers to buy it.

Today, I called Bissell to take care of this business and purchase the machine rather than go through the trouble of shipping it back. To my complete shock, Bissell will not allow for me to purchase the machine but would have me ship it back to them. If I want another machine, I will have to go online, purchase another one, and have it shipped back. I'm still trying to figure out the logic behind this as they won't even take my money. I wonder how many gallons of gas or jet fuel will be wasted getting this thing back to Grand Rapids, MI. Honesty really pays sometimes.

Huh! Go figure. I think I know why. They want my information for marketing purposes. If you buy the machine, they don't get it. That's the only reason I can think of.

Sometimes the big mass market just doesn't make any sense, does it. You wonder how they got so big with business practices like that. Its like spending 42 cents to mail me notification that I miscalculated my deposit by 1 cent.

I'll be interested in how this little gadget works. I've been reading customer reviews on it and they haven't been very positive. Even the larger machine gets mixed reviews. It seems you have to spend a whole lot to get a steam machine that's going to really work well. But the concept is interesting...
